Idaho Congressman Mike Simpson issued the following statement on how he would have voted today on the War Powers Resolution.
“Now more than ever, the U.S. must show strength and unity in the face of an aggressive Iran. I support President Trump in taking decisive action to bring an avowed terrorist and enemy of the United States to justice,” said Simpson. “Unfortunately, the War Powers Resolution put forth today by Democrats is a continuation of their campaign to undermine the President at every turn by offering a political messaging resolution that has no force of law. This resolution is a dangerous attempt to undercut the President’s ability to protect Americans and could embolden Iran, and had I been present today, I would have voted ‘no.’”
Simpson had knee replacement surgery on December 23. The surgery was rescheduled so Simpson would not miss the House votes on impeachment. Simpson is recovering very well and will return to Washington next week.
